Happy New Year!!
This year was even worse than my pathetic attempt of last year re Christmas and New Year greetings. But this time it was not exactly me. My computer threatened to die of exhaustion in the last few days in SLe and then ... right on cue it actually did die when I arrived home.
So no emails; no blog posts, no &^%$#@ book and no work. Couldn't have been better actually. Thanks to a computer whizz friend in Freetown I have lost nothing - and the computer has now been fixed thanks to SIL.
In the meantime ... Christmas was.
Too much food (of course); masses of pressies - but as some were pre-delivered it was pretty easy. I bought a large sandstone Buddha for Lis and Soy and it was delivered on Christmas Eve. I asked the next morning if they had received anything. "Oh yes" said Nell "We have a Buddha".
"Oh (says I) who gave it to you?"

Apart from the fact that a Buddha is an odd Christmas present ... it is compunded by the fact that it was going into a partly Jewish household. Now if we could just put a Shinto/Muslim twist on it ... we would have all the major religions covered!
Pre-Christmas was a Nell-fest. Concerts and hangin' for a week or so. Nells' concert and Josh's concert were on the same day in two different cities ... with a hurried car journey from one to the other.
I have also had fun painting and pulling out masses of old and stubborn umbrella trees and now have planted trendy red spiky looking things.
New Year's Eve I went with Lis and family to Soy's father's place and had a barbecue (of the gracious kind not the other kind) and then watched the 2100 fireworks with the kids. Then I went home and .... watched the midnight fireworks from my terrace - who knew?? Could not see the bridge ones but all the ones in the air...
Travelled to the Gong on a 35+ degree day (New Year's Day) and nearly killed my parents by taking them to the beach for beachside fish and chips for lunch - in that heat!!
So now I am preparing to be descended upon by the hordes for summer fun and n ow that I have a computer back ... I guess some of the &^%$#@ book had better be done as well!!
